I just wanted to talk about how happy I am after catching up with friends.
I don't know. Sometimes we're just so busy with our own lives that we forget to check up on each other. Not because we don't care, but because everyone is just... busy. There's always something going on.
And then you finally see each other and you get to hear their stories, what they've been up to lately, what's new with them. You laugh about things that probably aren't even that funny to anyone else.
And it just makes me so happy.
Sometimes I feel like words can't really describe that feeling. It's just nice to be around people you've known for so long and realize that even though you haven't talked in a while, you can just pick up where you left off.
We were missing a few friends who are away, which is sad. I really wish everyone could've been there.
Something that's funny about our friend group, though, is that everybody is so independent. Haha.
Which I actually love.
My girlfriend and I are like that too. We're very much a unit, but we're also independent people. We solve our own problems, figure things out, and generally don't like bothering other people with our problems.
And apparently, so do all our friends.
The funny thing is, they won't tell you about a problem they're having until they've already solved it.
And sometimes I'm like, You could've told me! We could've helped! You didn't have to go through that alone.
But that's just who we all are.
I think there's something really nice about having friends you know you can depend on, even if nobody is actually asking for help.
They're ready to help. We're ready to help. If something happened, I know we'd all show up for each other.
But nobody is asking for help. :))
I sometimes wish there were more ways to make them feel that we care about them and that we love them. Because I think we do. We just aren't always very good at saying it or asking for it.
Maybe that's just our version of friendship.
It's knowing that someone is there without having to constantly check in. It's knowing that if you ever really need someone, they'll be there.
And I think there's something really comforting about that.
Anyway, more on these ladies later. 🤍
